    Read reviews about poor customer service but as my sister had purchased afternoon tea for my husband's birthday we went today. The poor service comments were right. Arrived at 1.15 saying there for afternoon tea and were given menus and shown to a table which was crammed in the centre aisle. Too many tables in very small space inside. Outside is now closed off. Declined to be squeezed in and sat at a 4 seat table. Saw 2 other lots of people come in and be seated after us by 5 to 10 minutes. After 15 mins a waitress came and took the later arrivals orders and i had to stop her walking past us and insist that she take our order. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks from entering and another 10 minutes for the afternoon tea. My husband saw 2 other seated parties go to the main till area to complain about their wait. Not enough staff or disorganised with the 4 they had. Tea did not have enough sandwiches, very small thin finger slices, too cake and scone heavy. Bread was dry and scones too heavy in texture.The chocolate mousse cake made no mention of containing coffee and I had to remove it from my mouth as i dislike coffee. Very unpleasant. Left feeling disappointed and not full even though i had to have 2 hot chocolates as hungry. Better service and afternoon tea at Stokes in Lincoln.

    Great experience. Booked a tea for 2 on Groupon for my mum only to find out once there that 2 of the cakes had walnuts, which she is highly allergic to. The manager informed her that unfortunately to be on the safe side my mum should not eat any of the cakes as they may have come in contact. As that was half of the tea for 2 she said she we could have something from the other menu, instead of just having sandwiches. Staff were lovely and understanding
